Championship Saturday

For All The Marbles

The 2009 Fall Soccer Season is now over, and it ended in dramatic fashion. Saturday was filled with dynamic match ups and concluded with two championship matches. The 3-4th grade championship match highlighted the two league powerhouses Snarks and Inter Milan. This game was close in the first half with Milan scoring the first goal, and Snarks holding them scoreless until half time. Snarks came out ready to play in the second half and scored the equalizer in less than a minute. Milan toughened up and scored the go ahead goal just 2 minutes later, which took the wind out of Snarks sails. Milan continued on the offensive, and with 3 minutes left Snarks were called with a hand ball in the penalty box which lead to a goal scored on a penalty shot. This was the final result, 3-1 in favor of Inter Milan.

The 5-7th grade Championship Match was a different story. The easiest way to describe this match was that it was a heavy weight boxing match. Each side giving big blows to the other, and then a KO! Team Galaxy came ready to play and score 2 straight goals, and everyone thought Galaxy was in route for a blowout, but team Real had other thoughts. Real rallied back and scored 2 straight goals to tie it up right before the half. After the half this game turned into a defensive struggle, and came down to the last minute and finally with less than 30 seconds left in the match, Galaxy put one in the back of the net to seal their Championship run.

Congratulations to all players and coaches that participated in this years soccer season. We look forward to seeing you in early March for Indoor Soccer.
