Week 2 2009 Fall Soccer

Scoring Goals On and Off the Field

During the 2009 Fall Soccer Season as with all of our program, we are motivated to teach skills that will develop players on and off the field. In the hopes of doing just that, we have implemented a sportsmanship initiative where coaches on a weekly basis have the opportunity to teach a value that relates to game of soccer, but more importantly to the world we live in. The 3-5 minute teaching session (before or after a practice or game) where the value is introduced is a special one for both the individual and the team. Coaches who have used this teaching method over the course of the season have seen an increased growth in players physical skill development, ability to work together for a common goal, communication skills, preparation, and personal dedication, and the list is limitless. These skills and values translate to the soccer field, but we hope that our participants are walking walking away from our programs with more than just a win or a lose, but an understanding of how to be successful in the game of life. Understanding this, each week as a staff we introduce a sportsmanship value to the league that may ignite this teaching opportunity.

Soccer Season Underway

FALL 2009 SOCCER WEEK 1

After 15 long weeks of break, soccer is now back in action at the Sorenson Center. We are estatitic to announce that the program has reached capacity of 195 participants. Teams have been divided and seperated, which was made possible by two nights of rigorous drafts, and now a week of practices. The Fall 2009 Soccer Season officially started yesterday morning, as the first games of the season were played. There was a definite sense of excitement as the season began with some amazing action during the season openers. As a Staff we wish continued success and safety to all players throughout the season.

Passing the Football until 2010

The Flag Football season has come to an end.

This year's football coaches and athletic trainer are extremely pleased with the team's overall progression, and fundamental skills that were learned throughout the season. As a result of the coaches' dedication and persistence, players were able to walk away from this year's season with a base knowledge of offensive formations and route running, as well as an understanding of the importance of defense in creating a successful program. Again, we congratulate our team, our coaches, and our players for another successful season.

Whistle Blowers & Play Callers (Coaches Meeting)

We'd like to thank all those that were in attendance for our Fall 2009 Soccer Coaches Meeting. During this meeting we were able to go over in detail this season's goals and objectives. In addition to these points, we introduced the concept of holding a player/parent meeting for each team before the season being. By holding these meetings we will increase the communication channel between players/parents and staff/coaches. By holding these meetings, we are positive that we will see a difference in the dedication of our participants, and an increased contribution by the parents involved. At the conclusion of this meeting we distributed an overview for what should be covered in the player/parent meeting. If you were unable to attend the coaches meeting please contact a member of the Sports Staff to receive a copy.

Again coaches, thank you for your support, and best of luck to you in the upcoming season.
